We are looking for an experienced Service Manager to join our established team based in Borehamwood. As an experienced Workshop Manager you will oversee daily operations within our busy HGV, Vehicle & Plant workshop. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a productive and safe working environment. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the activities of workshop staff to ensure efficient workflow Maintain schematics and documentation related to equipment repairs and assembly processes. Oversee workshop Health & Safety policies and practices. Perform equipment repairs and maintenance as needed, utilising mechanical knowledge effectively. Train and mentor staff on best practices for equipment handling and maintenance. Ensure the workshop is organised, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations. Maintain up to date records of machinery servicing & repairs, keep stock levels correct and levels and managed. Managing the workflow process for all actives in the workshop environment. Be cost aware, ensuring the repairs justified and require, repair/replace/renew. Coordinating defect reporting to third party or internal engineers. Once engineer completes job, service manager to check over. Recharging the client if necessary. Ordering parts for the service team to optimise production. Outsource to third parties engineers where necessary. Book breakdowns out to relevant engineers. Check over and complete job on plant module. Potential recharges applied and billed back to the contract. Outsource to third parties where necessary. Monitor and make judgement on consolidating spends Analyse data for supplier performance. Approval on new supplier set ups. Carry out audits on third party repairers & part suppliers Check over newly purchased plant & HGV’s to make sure all is in good order & familiarization of new functions Parts spend per supplier/manufacturer Managing workshop/mobile engineers to ensure utilisation of OCU owned equipment. Liaising with OCU compliance manager regarding services/inspections that may not be carried out due to waiting on repairs. Informing compliance manager when assets are out of repair if they are due inspections/services so they can be booked in. When assets available and ready for hire, inform hiredesk to see if they can be utilised out on site. Set KPI’s on downtime, monitor monthly. Skills & Experience Proven experience in Plant and Transport Management. Strong knowledge of mechanical and technical aspects of plant machinery and transport vehicles. Familiarity with UK transport legislation and compliance requirements. Strong leadership and team management skills. Budgeting and financial management experience. Proficiency in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar software. Desirable: NVQ Level 3 or above in Engineering or Transport Management. CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification. Experience in logistics and route optimisation. HGV driving licence.
