Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Senior Base Engineer (Survey) be responsible for ensuring all survey equipment is serviced, tested and interfaced as per client requirements for upcoming projects. As Senior Base Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring this is carried out in a timely and organized manner with particular attention to maintaining the high QA standards already in place. You will also assist the Workshop Manager with the review and development of procedures.
Reports to Workshop Manager. Liaises with all staff, clients and 3rd parties.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The responsibilities of the postholder will include but not be limited to the following:
* Testing/interfacing and fault finding of a range of electronic survey equipment
* The maintenance, servicing and repair of survey equipment, including minor PCB work, for applicable products
* Accurate and organized documenting of certificates and test sheets
* Support with the implementation of equipment test procedures for equipment
* The identification and initiation of the purchase of replacement parts
* Updating and maintaining goods-in and dispatch records
* Ensure the return of 3rd party equipment within the timescales agreed
* Completing all outgoing quality assurance checks prior to dispatch
* Creation of delivery notes
* Updating records of damaged equipment
* Point of liaison between suppliers, manufacturer’s and customers as required
* Offering comprehensive Technical Support to Customers
* Occasional field based equipment support to customers as required
* Occasional remote based equipment support to customers
* Working collaboratively with the team to ensure workshop audits deliver the appropriate quality standards
* Calibration of equipment to manufactures tolerances & specifications as per Oceanscan’s procedures
* Operation of warehouse forklift apparatus
Experience and Qualifications:
Desirable experience and qualifications are as follows:
* HNC or equivalent in a relevant area; Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Systems
* 3-5 years experience of testing/interfacing and fault finding of electronic survey equipment, ideally with some offshore experience
* Experience of Pcb investigation, soldering, crimping, mechanical assembly
* Experience of calibration of equipment to manufactures tolerances & specifications
* Solid experience of Microsoft Office suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Skills and Knowledge:
* Knowledge of a full range of Oceanscans’ equipment
* Ability to work on field based or remote equipment
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Exceptional attention to detail with good analytical skills
* Strong problem solving skills
* Strong communication skills; e.g. report writing, customer service

* Ideally have a clean driving license and the ability to travel to global companies if necessary
* Maintain reasonable levels of fitness to carry out the role and actively participate in medicals where required
