Job summary The post holder will work as a member of the Paediatric Team, under the direction of the Ward Manager/Nurse in Charge. The post holder will adhere at all times to the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales (WG 2011). The post holder will contribute to the provision of health care to children and young people and families by providing assistance to the Registered Nurse in undertaking a range of duties with direct supervision and will be required to report back on those delegated duties to a Registered Nurse providing. The post holder will ensure the provision of the highest standards of care, which reflects the quality standards of the Health Board and, Health and Care Standards. The post holder will be required to carry out a range of assigned tasks under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse involving direct and indirect care for the benefit of the child and family in accordance with agreed protocols. The post holder will be expected to provide support under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse to children ages 0-15 and those aged 16 and above who have yet to transition to adult care who are undergoing medical / surgical treatment and procedures, using play therapy and distraction techniques The post holder may be required to maintain adequate levels of stock and equipment and facilitate the efficient, effective use of resources; reporting when availability falls below an acceptable standard or level to a Registered Nurse Main duties of the job Complete the induction programme and all required statutory and mandatory training as outlined in the core skills framework for all employees of the Health Board.
