University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay has a firm commitment to strengthening the diversity of our workforce, and therefore welcome and encourage applications from likeminded people who can support our ambition to become effortlessly inclusive. We are particularly keen to hear from protected groups – including BAME, LGBT+ and people with a disability.
Job overview
An opportunity has become available to join the Dalton District Nurses as a registered nurse to cover 12 months maternity leave. This is a close and supportive team that pride themselves on delivering a high standard of person-centred care to the residents of Dalton and surrounding villages.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic team player that shares the same passion and drive to care for people in their own homes to a high standard and wants to develop their knowledge in community care.
The post is 22.5 hours a week over 3 days and includes weekends and bank holidays. The post will also include working evenings and potential nights as part of the hours in the Furness out of hours team over a 7 day week, 365 days a year.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as a registered Nurse within Community Services, accountable for providing evidence-based, holistic nursing care of patients.
You will be expected to support the Sister/Team Leader in leading the team, supervising, directing staff, and delegating workload according to skills of the staff within the team.
The Dalton team is a small team consisting of full and part-time nurses and a health care support worker, run day to day by the Assistant Team lead and supported by the Team Lead.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day-case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
