Role Purpose Based at Spirit Aerosystems Prestwick, the Automation Technician will support Spirit Prestwick Operations, by providing; planned automated equipment maintenance, rapid response for technical issues, and management of critical spares. Automation Technician ( Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician) Salary: From £37,022 (dependent on experience) This opportunity, based at our Prestwick site offers: - 37 hour working week - Shift premiums up to 33%, based on a 24/6 shift - Overtime at time and a half, where applicable - 33 days holiday per year, rising with service - Annual Bonus related to company performance - Defined contribution pension scheme (default contributions; 4% employee and 8% employer) - Virtual GP Service 365 days per year - Employee Assistance Program - A wide range of flexible benefits - Death in service payment (default 4 times basic salary) - Professional development and growth - Free car parking - And more (https://spiritaero.icims.com/icims2/servlet/icims2?moduleAppInert&actiondownload&id187171&hashed1809974432) Responsibilities - Perform the above referenced activity on all types of electrical, electronic and/or mechanical equipment, machine circuits, Automated/Robotic systems, including but not limited to: - Voltage distribution systems - Motor control centres - Various machine tools - Various Robotic Solutions - PPM completion and updating (this is mentioned in the Decision Making Authority section) - Motors - Pumps - Data communications - Fibre optic/copper cabling - Programmable logic controllers (PLC) - Variable frequency drives (VFD) - Networked computer systems - Lasers (measurement, projection, and production) - RFID devices - Data & video communication systems - Power conditioning and backup systems - Pneumatic and hydraulic systems - Instrumentation indication systems - Mechanical drive systems - All other types of electrical/electronic equipment and machines - Associated software and components of the above typical company assets - Perform software backups for all applicable assets. - Use and update schematics, software, hardware, and wiring diagrams to determine compliance with specifications for electrical and mechanical systems. - Devise and fabricate any necessary testing aids and equipment. - Use applicable machinery, production aids, tools, instruments, test equipment, predictive technologies and shop theory to accomplish work assignments. - Assemble and verify data for necessary records and reports, complete paperwork electronically or manually, and order parts associated with the work assignments. - Work with and assist other employees engaged in the maintenance installation, repair, retrofit, modification, calibration, adjustment and test of electrical/electronic plant facilities. - Coordinate and work with management, engineering, contractors, and equipment manufacturers for; installation, modification, failure analysis and problem resolution on all automated systems. - Work with power distribution control systems with incoming voltages in excess of 600VDC. - Design, support and maintain electronic systems required for the operation of the maintenance organisation. - Perform complex machine alignment and laser calibration. In addition to above, the applicant will: - Compile new hardware/software justifications/commissions. - Act as a focal point and support Customers. - Act as a focal point and support Suppliers. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Essential experience includes; automated electronic and mechanical systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), electrical and motor control, instrumentation systems, and use of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) systems. - Advantageous experience includes; robotics, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) systems. - The job holder requires a technical craft apprenticeship within a relevant engineering discipline, as well as four years minimum industrial experience. - The successful candidate will have good oral and written communication skills, possess the ability to work well within a team and be innovative when solving problems. Decision Making Authority - Exercise technical authority, supporting the direction of actual work to be performed on equipment, to produce timely repairs and maximum benefit to the company. - Contribute clear and concise reporting via maintenance management systems, and Preventative Maintenance (PM) documentation. - Contribute to the development of best practice and cutting edge processes and procedures. - Support multiple business units, locations, and shifts.
