* About the Role:
o Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Mathematics department, ensuring the delivery of an outstanding and engaging curriculum across all key stages, including GCSE and A-Level Mathematics and potentially Further Mathematics.
o Develop and implement innovative teaching methodologies and resources to inspire students and promote a deep conceptual understanding of mathematical principles, problem-solving skills, and logical reasoning.
o Lead, support, and mentor a talented team of Mathematics teachers, fostering a collaborative, high-achieving, and supportive departmental culture.
o Oversee the planning, delivery, and rigorous assessment of the Mathematics curriculum, ensuring consistently high standards and excellent student outcomes at all levels.
o Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the department, implementing data-driven strategies for continuous improvement and ensuring best practices are shared.
o Contribute to the broader academic life of the school, potentially leading or supporting extracurricular mathematics clubs, competitions, and enrichment activities.
o Manage departmental resources effectively, including budgeting and the procurement of teaching materials and technology.
o Work collaboratively with other Heads of Department and the Senior Leadership Team to contribute to the overall strategic direction of the school.
* Ideal Candidate:
o Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in Mathematics, holding a relevant degree.
o Significant and successful experience teaching Mathematics at the secondary level, with a proven track record of leadership, raising student achievement, and leading a high-performing department, including experience with A-Level Mathematics and ideally Further Mathematics.
o A deep and current understanding of the Mathematics curriculum, assessment requirements, and innovative pedagogical approaches.
o Exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and a team of teachers.
o A demonstrable passion for mathematics and the ability to convey its beauty and power to young women, encouraging their engagement and success in the subject.
o Experience in curriculum development, data analysis, departmental budgeting, and performance management.
o A strong commitment to the education and empowerment of girls in mathematics.
