VCU Athletics is seeking a graduate assistant to assist in the daily operations of the Development area.
Specifically, the Ram Athletic Fund Graduate Assistant will serve an important role as a liaison between the VCU Athletic Department and its 3,600 donors, $3.5 million annual fundraising operation. This position will assist with implementing annual fundraising and stewardship plans, coordinating Ram Athletic Fund events and hospitality, providing tremendous customer service, and representing VCU at numerous external functions, home athletic contests, donor trips, and University functions.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Assist in the planning of all special events, including golf tournaments, donor trips, and major department fundraising & stewardship events.
2. Provide customer service to all members of the Ram Athletic Fund.
3. Have direct interaction with donor base and season ticket holders.
4. Help manage game day hospitality spaces during men’s basketball home games.
5. Provide integral support with the coordination of annual fundraising & stewardship plans, VCU donor database management, gift processing, game-day operations, special events, and other duties as assigned for a $3.5 million annual fund, 3,600 donor operation.
6. Identification of prospects for high-level annual and major gifts, serving as a "front door" to the RAF office, and assisting Development Officers and Senior Administration with donor identification.
7. Managing RAF email account and main RAF phone line.
8. Working in a team environment, collaborating on projects with the ticket office, sports information department, marketing, coaches, and all other areas of the VCU athletics department to provide outstanding fan experience to all VCU patrons.
9. Attending all meetings as able and completing assignments in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Admittance into a VCU graduate program.
2. Professionalism at all times, including numerous daily phone calls and frequent personal interaction with donors.
3. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a graduate assistant at VCU.
Preferred:
1. Knowledge of and prior work experience in intercollegiate athletics.
2. Strong customer service skills, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
3. Exceptional verbal and written communication.
