RESPONSIBLE FOR: Leading on and being accountable for the delivery of a high-quality residential provision for children and young people, having robust oversight of the care provision to ensure safe and effective practice of the staff team. Promoting a co-production approach, ensuring that the voices of children, young people and families are heard and valued in respect of service development, planning and decision making. Leading and supporting the team to work in partnership with other agencies to deliver effective coordinated packages of support as per the childs care plan. Ensuring that the children have an up-to-date support plan which details all their care and support needs and that all members of the staff team are aware and follow them. Providing a safe and stimulating environment for children living at the home Ensuring that the service is identifying and supporting children and young people who are engaged in high-risk behaviours through robust management and making sure that the support team have the right skills, knowledge and experience to work effectively within policies and processes that promote best practice. Promoting positive and supportive relationships with families, which ensure that they maintain active involvement with their child. Ensuring that all children and young people attend school/education and training in line with their care plans and engage with providers so that the staff team are aware of agreed target and learning outcomes that can be supported and developed within the home. Monitoring arrangements for any holidays, reactional outings and social activities with the children and young people and ensure the implementation of related risk assessments. Ensuring that there are regular stimulating activities for children and young people to participate in that reflect their interests and wishes and also offer new opportunities and experiences. Embedding a culture of high aspirations for the children and young people to support positive outcomes Ensuring that the home environment is well maintained and is homely and personalised to the tastes and interests of the children and young people living there. Developing all documents and plans in line with the Childrens Homes Regulations with a view to continuous improvement and ensuring that Quality Standards are met. Accountable for the Homes Statement of Purpose and ensure that it is appropriate, relevant and regularly reviewed. Ensuring that documentation required by regulators is completed to a high standard and is available for inspection. Ensuring effective recruitment, induction and retention processes in line with Nurtrio policy and procedures. The provision of high-quality and regular, reflective supervision to the staff team to ensure that team members are compliant with best practice. Embedding a culture of continual improvement and development of the staff team as a whole through the appraisal process and regular staff meetings. Ensuring adequate levels of staffing at all times of competent and trained residential workers and ensuring effective rota management Challenging poor performance and supporting staff members to improve practice but if not attainable using the appropriate Nurtrio policies and procedures to deal with issues. Managing disciplinary, grievance and other HR related issues in accordance with Nurtrios policies and procedures COMMUNICATION To provide support and related information in respect of the cared for children and young people to relevant partners following the appropriate guidance and procedures. Able to communicate effectively and sensitively with children, families and other professionals To be fully accessible during working hours to respond to issues that require attention. To be part of an on-call rota and respond to on-call issues as required To conduct themselves in an appropriate manner when dealing with the people we support, Nurtrio staff and members, partner agencies and the public. EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT To be aware of own training needs and bring these to the attention of the line manager. To develop a thorough knowledge of Nurtrio and Navigo services available to the people we support and promote positive working relationships with them. To be aware and adhere to Nurtrio policies and procedures. To participate in appropriate training courses and updates in accordance with mandatory requirements and / or individual personal development plans (PDRs).
