The transition from the existing system to the new will involve establishing key management principles, in addition to managing the cleansing and migration of data into the new system.
The data manager role is offered on a contract basis of 12 – 18 months (to suit the candidate), with the opportunity to extend/move to other projects.
Responsibilities
The Data Manager has the ultimate responsibility for the master data objects in the system. They define requirements along with the process owners in line with the overall project strategy and business strategy.
The role will functionally report into the finance team but will also have a reporting line to the Project Manager.
Experience Requirements
Functional
* Manage the data object across business processes and segments
* Maintain overall oversight over the execution of data maintenance processes and its adherence to the data standards
* Provide requirements to IT to acquire tools and support services required to store, manage, present, & dispose of data Service Management & Continuous Improvement
* Monitor and implement KPI’s for the data objects in line with overall global data standards
* Ensure that harmonised change management processes, standards, and business guidelines are in place per domain
* Prioritise, estimate and QA proposed data changes
* Work with segment, function, IT, and data stewards to ensure that requested data changes are implemented in a timely fashion
Leadership & Supervisory
* Lead a team of data stewards and their work with the functions to resolve issues, maintain standards and guidelines, manage data quality, and run the mechanics of the DG processes
* Ensure local data teams grasp overall change in approach to ensure new data meets agreed standards
* Work with the wider business on initiatives to leverage data as a source of competitive advantage
* Define with the process owners detailed standards and guidelines for master data object content and quality
Resource Management
* Coordinate assignment and ongoing fulfilment of data stewards' roles in each of the process areas
Skills
* Confident individual with good interpersonal skills, able to deal with people at all levels and communicate in a clear, non-technical language where appropriate
* Team-player
* Analytically minded, able to break down and understand information
* Must be comfortable with working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment
* Strongly customer-focused, used to providing support to demanding users
* Good organisational skills, used to managing and prioritising both own and others' workload
* Ability to report on progress, timescales, outstanding, and completed activities
