Your new company
You will be working for a global building materials company based in Coventry. They are currently experiencing a period of growth and transition and are looking for a Transport Planner to join the team to help improve the operational efficiency of the planning function.
Your new role
Key responsibilities include managing programmed orders and services and allocating deliveries for same-day and next-day plans. This involves effective communication and liaison with plants and hauliers, monitoring and amending plans to ensure smooth daily operations, and optimising the fleet through best practice planning. Responsibilities also include planning driver days in accordance with Working Time Directive and EU Drivers Hours legislation, using systems to locate vehicles and monitor delays, and communicating effectively with Customer Service Representatives regarding late loads, stock levels, and vehicle availability.
Additionally, the role involves identifying the need for order renegotiation, managing returned and re-diverted orders, improving capacity planning, contributing to process improvements, and planning future plant and truck availability.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate should have previous transport planning experience, including working with Transport Management systems, and possess good geographical and road network knowledge. They must demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to providing the best possible customer experience. Experience in a customer-focused environment and working with KPIs in a results-driven setting is essential.
A solid understanding of the Working Time Directive and EU Drivers Hours legislation is required, as well as a digital mindset, the ability to work with new technology, and good IT skills. Experience with SAP modules are desirable.
What you'll get in return
For this role, you will receive a permanent contract alongside an annual salary of £30,000 (There is some room for negotiation DOE). The hours are Mon-Fri 07:00-15:45 and 08:15-17:00, which changes on a rolling basis. There is also the requirement to work 1 Saturday every 4 weeks. This will be a work from home day and will be from 07:00am-12:00pm.
