Job summary
This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside the Physiotherapy teams covering the inpatient wards at St Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight.
You will work with qualified Physiotherapists and other Physiotherapy Assistants to support patients as they begin their recovery and rehabilitation. Using manual handling skills and appropriate mobility equipment you will help patients achieve their functional goals supported by the wider multi-disciplinary team. Using strong communication skills you will motivate and encourage patients to get moving, support the ward teams to move people safely and help facilitate their discharge from hospital.
No day is the same, as you work with a motivated and highly skilled Physiotherapy team that takes pride in delivering patient centred care for all.
Main duties of the job
Along with qualified Physiotherapists and other assistant staff you will plan, organise and prioritise a daily workload using Systm1
With qualified staff, or under their supervision, you will deliver treatment programmes or interventions. You will be assisting patients to walk, get in and out of bed and other functional daily tasks
You will document your interventions in the approved manner as guided by Trust, and Regulator policy
You will be responsible for the ordering, maintenance and cleaning of equipment as needed

Qualifications
Essential
1. A-Level qualifications or equivalent ( NVQ 3); Health & Social Care NVQ level III or above or equivalent experience
2. English and Maths GCE/GCSE or equivalent Grade C or above or equivalent qualification to demonstrate numeracy and literacy
3. Computer literate with demonstrated ability to autonomously, effectively and efficiently use Microsoft office suite and intranet/internet
4. Demonstrated ability to utilise specific data bases autonomously
5. An understanding of rehabilitation and human anatomy and physiology
6. An understanding of safeguarding and data protection policies
7. Completion of the care certificate within the first 6-12 months of employment if new to the Trust
