Matchtech are supporting the recruitment for a System Safety Assurance Engineer to work with a key client in TORONTO. This role does require the suitable candidate to relocate to Toronto for the position. Responsibilities: Accountable for leading safety assurance for the various projects, ensuring the project are compliant with relevant international safety and technical standards such EN50126, EN50129 or IEC 61508, CSM-RA, CMREA. Accountable for reporting on progress, managing staff competence and development, delivery of and maintain an internal audit schedule ensuring projects are following governance. Coordinates the safety studies carried out through the life cycle of the process to ensure that safety requirements are met. Manage, perform, and ensure the activities related to safety assurance are applied in the projects. Manage Hazard Log, review RAM, V&V, T&C activities from a Safety perspective. Manage creation of and approve the Safety Reports and the Safety Case. Prepare technical reports for submission to the management, clients, and the regulatory authorities. Lead safety engineering activities for a wide range of rolling stock, signaling and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with the relevant standards. Responsible for the facilitation of HAZOP / HAZID workshops and being able to self-sufficiently plan, run and write up the workshops. Manage risk assessments for specific discipline areas, being able to self-sufficiently plan, run and write up risk workshops. Has a working knowledge of Safety Methods: Safety Plan, Preliminary Hazard Analysis PHA, Failure Modes and Effects Critical Analysis FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis FTA, Interface Hazard Analysis IHA, Operation & Support Hazard Analysis OSHA, Safety related Item List SRIL, Hazard Log HL, V&V Safety Report, and Safety Case. Undertakes technical analyses and reviews of Engineering Safety Management documentation and project assurance deliverables. Fosters a safety culture and is seen as a safety role model on the project. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or all other equivalent training. 5-10 years of relevant experience. Relevant safety designations an asset. High degree of technical proficiency in dealing with all safety related aspects of large scale and complex Railway projects, involving multiple players. Strong knowledge in the modern Railway projects, including various components/systems that these projects are made of. Expertise in application of safety standards such as technical standards such EN50126, EN50129 or IEC 61508, CSM-RA, CMREA. Expertise in crating a Hazard Log, FMECA, FTA, IHA, OSHA, etc. Knowledge of design and construction management aspects of Railway Projects. Excellent communication skills, the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders.
