The Business Service Centre (BSC) delivers many of the Council’s back office services, including payroll, payment & income processing, shopping, temporary staff service, DBS checks, ID badges and SAP system support. This role will help to deliver all day-to-day Payroll and Pensions support and the exciting opportunity this apprentice scheme offers will eventually provide you with experience in understanding payroll processing from start to finish, dealing with queries, general Payroll tasks and providing guidance and advice to our employees and also external customers. About YouThis is what we need you to do... To support the administration function within the BSCLearn to use relevant Microsoft Office programs (Excel and Word) competently Learn to use bespoke systems to carry out your duties such as SAPLiaise with external and internal customers via e-mail and telephone on BSC queries and some Payroll related mattersInput various forms into the Payroll system with a high degree of accuracy Provide all required administrative support relating to BSC queries such as Payroll and pensions. You will also be offered bespoke and educational training whilst working in the Payroll and Pensions teams by completing an NVQ level 3 in Payroll and Pensions Administration. If you have not gained your Maths, English or ICT qualification, you will need to complete these subjects alongside and before finishing your apprenticeship. You will be assigned a Trainer/Assessor who will support you with any apprenticeship queries and help you to navigate the modules within your apprenticeship. Within each department you will have a mentor who you will support and coach you. They will also meet with your regularly, answer any questions that you have, allocate your work load, identify any areas that you need support in and discuss your performance and progress within your apprenticeship.
