Our client is looking to appoint a solicitor to join their construction department to focus on contentious construction work. The team has a busy and broad practice with a particular focus on the energy sector, and regularly advises on the following areas: infrastructure, civil engineering, utilities, wastewater, transport, oil and gas, renewables (hydro schemes, tidal, onshore and offshore wind), flood prevention schemes, commercial developments, domestic, PFI/PPP, and professional negligence.
As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to:
1. Advise clients on their contractual provisions and obligations, in the context of issues and disputes.
2. Provide strategic pre-dispute advice to large commercial clients, including assessing the strength of position, options to avoid formal dispute processes, and the preparation for such a process.
3. Take an active role in large-scale Scottish and English court actions in the TCC, Court of Session, and Sheriff Courts, and also experience a wide variety of alternative dispute resolution options including arbitration, adjudication, and mediation.
4. Document settlements and agreements, and advising clients on the concluded position, including how to continue projects and commercial relationships.
Applicants will ideally be around 3-6 years post qualified and have relevant experience. The firm operates a flexible working policy, offers an excellent package, and salary will be dependent on experience.
