Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Outpatient Booking Team Leader within Specialist Surgery. The Outpatient Booking Team Leader will support the Service Manager responsible for the management of Referral to Treatment (RTT) & Cancer Access standards across assigned services.
The post holder will manage the Outpatient booking administration teams and Outpatient PTL across the Directorate, ensuring compliance with the Trust Elective Access Policy.
The Outpatient Booking Team Leader will work within the clinical services ensuring appropriate prioritisation and chronological booking for all outpatient appointments within the Directorate.
Applicants should be well-organised with excellent communication skills, able to work well under pressure, and be a key team player. Computer literacy and good customer service skills are a must.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure systems are in place to achieve delivery of the Directorate’s patient access targets via the implementation of new processes and procedures.
2. Manage Outpatient waiting lists, working closely within the Directorate to ensure waiting list improvements and national targets are achieved.
3. Present highly complex statistical information to staff to assist with ongoing service improvement.
4. Provide expert analysis using appropriate query tools (e.g., Access, Excel) for monitoring and forecasting purposes.
5. Be the first point of contact for the Outpatient booking team by providing support and leadership, including line management.
6. Maintain an electronic register of statutory and mandatory training and ensure staff has attended as required.
7. Ensure patients are booked in accordance with clinical priority and escalate any concerns regarding possible breaches of targets.
8. Manage waiting lists across the Directorate, ensuring best practice (PTL Management) is applied in line with national recommendations.
