Senior Occupational Therapist - Olympic Lodge, Acute Rehabilitation
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to work at Olympic Lodge providing assessment, acute rehabilitation and timely discharge for patients transferred from the acute hospitals.
Main duties of the job
This is a multi-skilled post requiring experience in acute medical or orthopaedic discharge planning, neurology, amputees, falls and other pathologies.
You will be supported by acute therapists and work jointly with the patients, physiotherapists, nurses and community teams both on the unit and sometimes the client's home to enable the clients to be discharged.
This post is part of a very friendly, supportive and dynamic Therapy department with integrated individual supervision, appraisal, CPD and in-service training.

Person Specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* Current registration with Health Professions Council
* Diploma /Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio
* Specific formal courses appropriate to post speciality
* Membership of professional special interest group
* Field work/clinical educators course
EXPERIENCE
* Experience of a junior rotational Occupational Therapy post in the NHS
* Attendance at post graduate courses in related fields and demonstrates reflective learning
* Knowledge of areas of clinical governance including quality audit and risk management
* Knowledge and application of evidence based practice and clinical reasoning
* Experience of managing own caseload and prioritizing
* Knowledge of areas of influence of psychosocial and cultural factors on health/illness behaviours
* Experience in supervision of students and junior staff
* Participation in audit, research activities and development activities
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
* Able to apply a range and depth of knowledge to the specialist clinical area of post
* Use of and/or knowledge of POMR record keeping
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
* To demonstrate appropriate level of assertiveness
* Self motivated
* Able to fulfill the physical demands of the role subject to reasonable adjustment under the terms of the Disciplinary Discrimination Act 1995
