An exciting opportunity has arisen within Velindre University NHS Trust for an Early Phase Research Nurse to be a part of the research delivery team providing patients with the opportunity to participate in Early Phase Clinical Trials.
We are seeking to employ a band 6 Registered Nurse with oncology nursing experience and a keen interest in clinical research. This position will support the delivery of advanced/novel therapies working within a specialised team of Research Nurses from both Velindre University NHS Trust and the Research Delivery Team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Previous research experience is desirable but is not essential as in-house training will be provided.
This position requires agility as working across 2 sites is required; the successful candidate will also be working alongside a dedicated research team setting up, collaborating and delivering trials for the new Cardiff Cancer Research Hub. This collaborative working and The Cardiff Cancer Research Hub will improve research access for patients in South Wales and beyond. This post would ensure we have the nursing skills and capacity to be able to do this, consistent with the Velindre University NHS Trust’s Overarching Cancer Research and Development Ambitions 2021-31.
The role will involve an element of out of hours working, in line with the needs of the service and individual clinical trial requirements. This post is fixed term/secondment for 14 months. Key Responsibilities:
1. To co-ordinate the delivery of the early phase portfolio of trials under the supervision of Early Phase Nurse Team Lead.
2. Responsible for coordinating and implementing research protocols.
3. Promote clinical trials and create awareness of Velindre Clinical Trials Unit and promote awareness of the S E Wales early phase portfolio and activity.
4. Deputise for Band 7 Team Lead in their absence.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
