Job Description
Texo Recruitment is looking for an experienced Small Works Manager on behalf of our client, a well-established construction company. This full-time, permanent role is based in Dundee and offers a unique opportunity to lead the Small Works division, managing a wide range of construction and maintenance projects.
About the Role
You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of small construction projects from start to finish. This includes managing tender opportunities, budgeting and day-to-day coordination. You will lead a team of site managers, foremen and engineers, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Additionally, you will oversee training, health and safety and quality control processes, liaising closely with design teams, subcontractors, and local authorities to maintain high standards and resolve potential issues.
Key Responsibilities
* Estimate and coordinate small works tenders and sign off on larger, complex projects with senior management
* Manage all aspects of project planning, including labour and resource allocation, cost control and scheduling
* Oversee site management, ensuring adherence to safety, quality and building codes
* Liaise with design teams and local authorities to maintain compliance and project flow
* Conduct regular site inspections and address any issues related to safety or quality
* Implement quality control programmes and conduct performance reviews
* Attend project meetings, providing updates on progress and addressing technical queries
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* CITB Site Supervisor Certificate
* CSCS Card
* Valid Driver’s Licence
* Strong background in construction project management with hands-on experience in leading teams and managing project resources
Desirable:
* Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
* Management qualification (NVQ/SVQ level 5) or a commitment to achieving this
* Prior experience in estimating and overseeing small works projects
Key Skills
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a strategic mindset
* Excellent time management and organisational abilities
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with industry standards and best practices
