We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic Special Needs Assistant (SNA) to join our team in our Communication and Interaction Centre (social communication and autism), supporting teaching and learning.We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, empathetic, resilient and flexible and ideally has some experience of working with children with additional needs.The role will entail working in the Centre classrooms, supporting children with their learning, working in small intervention groups, delivering programmes and interventions. These may include social skills, emotional regulation and speech, language and communication groups. You will also support children to access learning in their mainstream classroom, developing strategies to enable children to become independent learners. The position is for Key Stage 2 (7-11).Skills and experience required
Experience of working with children at primary age. Experience of working with children with additional needs would be highly beneficial.Experience of, or willing to train in, speech and language difficulties, emotional and sensory support strategies (eg Emotion coaching, Zones of Regulation)Someone who takes initiative and is able to adapt and think ‘outside the box’. Excellent communication skills. Minimum of A-C grades in Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent)We will provide full training to enable you to fulfil the role required. Training may include delivering various interventions and strategies to support learning, self-regulation, sensory needs and positive behaviour management. Hours for this position 32.5 hours per week (8.30am - 3.30pm Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri and 8.30am-4.00pm Wed)
