Head of Care - Brain Injury Rehabilitation
Location: Birmingham Salary: £40,000 per annum Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week Monday - Friday
About the Role:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RGN) to step into the role of Head of Care at a leading brain injuries charity in Birmingham. This role offers you the chance to make a real difference by providing strategic leadership and ensuring the highest standards of care for individuals living with complex brain injuries.
In this role, you'll lead a dedicated team of nurses and rehabilitation support staff, delivering person-centered care that promotes independence, dignity, and respect. This is an exciting chance to join a service that supports individuals with cognitive, physical, and emotional challenges, helping them achieve their personal rehabilitation goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide hands-on leadership, direction, and supervision to the nursing and rehabilitation support team.
2. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care tailored to individual needs.
3. Coordinate the assessment of referrals, admissions, and discharges, ensuring effective communication and planning.
4. Lead on Quality Assurance Audits and Clinical Governance processes, ensuring compliance with policies and relevant legislation.
5. Develop and oversee individual care plans, ensuring ongoing assessment, evaluation, and review.
6. Promote health education and health promotion opportunities for individuals in the service.
7. Support the Service Manager in the development and continuous improvement of service provision.
8. Act as the lead in health-related emergencies and liaise with external agencies when needed.
9. Deputise for the Service Manager in their absence.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A valid RGN nursing qualification with current NMC registration.
2. Proven experience managing a nursing team or ward effectively.
3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
4. Experience in managing complex care or rehabilitation services.
5. An understanding of the challenges of supporting individuals with acquired brain injuries and other neurological conditions.
6. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
7. A Mentorship in Practice (MIP) qualification or willingness to undertake one.
