Senior Performance Nutritionist (British Triathlon Olympic & Paralympic)
The Opportunity
The UK Sports Institute and British Triathlon have an exciting opportunity for a full time Senior Performance Nutritionist working in Loughborough.
A snapshot of the role
This role is an exciting opportunity to continue to build on and shape the way we support key areas within Performance Nutrition across the British Triathlon World Class Performance Programme within the Olympic and Paralympic athlete cohorts based both within and out with the British Triathlon Training Centres in Leeds and Loughborough. The role will involve working with the broader Performance Support Teams delivering to both Olympic and Paralympic performance programmes.
Located in Loughborough, this role offers an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified practitioner to build upon successful Performance Nutrition support by enabling athletes to implement evidence-based nutrition practices to enhance training and competition performance. Furthermore, this role requires an excellent understanding of endurance sport domains, particularly swim, bike and/or run. In addition to an appreciation for power:weight management, environmental challenges (i.e. heat), and concepts of behavioural change models (i.e. COM-B).
We are looking for someone with a genuine passion to work across a wide range of athletes with a wide range of needs. Therefore, the successful candidate will be required to have an advanced understanding of training principles and be able to interpret key physiological data. In order to practically evaluate energy availability needs of endurance athletes, the Senior Performance Nutritionist will be required to interpret data and implement specific nutritional strategies based on individual athlete needs. This is an essential component to support athlete health alongside the wider Medical and Performance Support Team. Therefore, extensive experience/knowledge of blood screening reports, anthropometric data collection (i.e. body composition/ISAK), dietary as well as supplement recommendations is essential.
With the athlete group being split across training centres and out with the training centre structure, the practitioner needs to engage proactively and be able to effectively identify needs of athletes/staff, and efficiently implement nutritional strategies within a reasonable time frame. The combination of delivery across different training centres, environments, and personnel also requires the practitioner to build appropriate working relationships with coaches, staff and athletes to understand group dynamics and ensure effective support delivery. This includes working remotely with commercial partnerships and programme coordinator teams within British Triathlon.
This role’s work is embedded exclusively with the multi medal winning team of British Triathlon supporting ever ambitious performances on the world stage building towards the LA 2028 and beyond.
If you feel you can bring the expertise we require to help us shape our future, we very much look forward to hearing from you.
