An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to apply for the post Practice Development Nurse for Paediatrics for WGH & SRH, within the UHSussex Paediatric and Neonates Practice Development Team. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring delivery of a high quality and effective education within Paediatrics on the Worthing and St Richard's sites.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with health care providers to develop and enhance a high-quality practice learning experience for all nursing staff as well as work collaboratively with other professions to support education. The post holder will lead on ensuring education meets division needs, as well as national and local guidance. The post holder will support practitioners into the clinical environment and through continuous professional development enhance their practice further.
The post holder will work closely with the Paediatrics and Neonatal Practice development team, Matrons, ward and department managers giving support and guidance to ensure that educational standards are met for the organisation.
The post holder will be part of a team leading on Clinical Education for all learners across the Trust ensuring a high quality learning experience for all staff. They will take a proactive role with staff recruitment, retention and returners, supporting career pathways, extended roles and succession planning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• To oversee collaborative working between the clinical educators, members of the multi-disciplinary team, ward managers, clinical lead for education and senior management team in delivering quality assured education and professional development for clinical staff and learners on placement.
• To proactively lead on practice development and education requirements within the department and Trust including shared learning from patient safety / harm free care.
• Advocate for safety and quality to promote evidence-based practice within the Paediatric speciality.
• To uphold the advancement of knowledge and skills using approved learning and assessment procedures including competency assessment.
• To ensure the clinical area is a positive learning environment through acting as an expert resource and reporting on up-to-date local training resources.
• To monitor and report on education activity to senior management team and clinical education team.
• To deliver specialist Paediatric education for staff working with patients and families our Clinical acute settings.
Person specification
Experience
Essential criteria
1. Clinical Paediatric expert either through formal qualification and/or extensive clinical experience
2. Qualification in Specialty (HDU)
3. PG Certificate in Education or studying for
4. EPALS/APLS provider
Desirable criteria
5. Leadership/Coaching course or equivalent
6. Masters level study (or working towards/willingness to undertake)
7. EPALS/ APLS Instructor
