Job summary We have an exciting new post for a Band 6 Junior Sister/charge nurse to join our specialised team caring for patients with burn injuries. This is a new post to help support the ongoing implementation of a new outpatient clinic situated within our Burn Centre. The successful candidate will rotate between the clinic, assessing new burn trauma patients as well as follow up patients, and assisting the Senior Sister in leading a team of staff delivering a high standard of burn care, working within an extensive multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will need to be well motivated, display leadership skills and be knowledgeable about all aspects of Burn Care. They will be required to engage in all forms of education to patients, nursing staff and all professionals who refer clients to our service. We are a small but very dedicated team who are very proud of the service we provide and have a very low turnover of staff due to the value we place on them and the training we invest. NO AGENCIES PLEASE Main duties of the job The successful candidate will assist the Senior Nurse on the Northern Regional burn Centre delivering a high standard of care to critically injured individuals. They will take charge of the Burn Centre regularly and lead a team of committed nurses delivering high quality safe and evidence-based burn care. We are a Regional Burn Centre so care for all sizes and complexity of burn injured patients, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe care of these patients, the performance and training of the nursing staff caring for them and the efficient running of the Burn Centre. As well as our inpatient ward we offer an outpatient clinic where the successful candidate would have responsibility for autonomously assessing and planning care for more minor injuries. There will be an expectation within the role to undertake further education such as the Clinical skills and history taking qualification to assist in the assessment of these patients. There will be an expectation for the successful candidate to maintain safe staffing utilizing systems such as Safecare and Allocate and be responsible for their maintenance. The Burn Centre has a responsibility to provide training to any service who refers burns to us and there is an expectation with this role that the successful candidate will participate in this.
