We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hotel Financial Controller to join our dynamic team at Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa. This senior position is pivotal in overseeing and managing the hotel’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and contributing to the strategic growth of the business.
As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis. You will work closely with senior management to provide critical financial insights that support decision-making and drive profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all financial activities and operations of the hotel, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
2. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
3. Lead the preparation of annual budgets, cash flow management, and variance analysis.
4. Monitor and review the hotel’s financial performance, ensuring targets and KPIs are met.
5. Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, providing insights into financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
6. Implement and maintain effective internal controls and financial policies.
7. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and tax obligations.
8. Manage the accounting team, providing leadership, training, and performance reviews.
9. Drive cost control initiatives and revenue management strategies to improve profitability.
10. Liaise with external auditors, banks, and financial institutions.
Key Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
2. Strong knowledge of hotel financial operations, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
3. Experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
4. Excellent proficiency in financial software (experience with hotel-specific systems such as Opera is an advantage).
5. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
6. Attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
7. Leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) are highly desirable.
