Job overview
Our patient focussed Facilities Team is undergoing a defining period of change with a number of retirements and the introduction of the new post of Deputy Facilities Director.
We provide a complex range of services all operated in-house which includes exemplar patient food services from our CPU, a full laundry production unit, domestic services, portering, transport, security and waste management. We are a team of over 1900 people.
There are a number of exciting strategic challenges for us to plan for over the next few years which will transform our services, and these roles will play a crucial role in delivering change.
The roles are very much about leadership, and we are looking for inspiring leaders with a focus on patients, staff engagement and development, with proven strategic and transformational leadership skills.
The Head of Domestic Services role carries responsibility for cleaning services across both our Acute and Community premises and is a key member of the Facilities senior leadership team.
Main duties of the job
* To provide professional leadership and support to deliver Domestic cleaning services across the Trust.
* To take the lead on major strategic change projects within Facilities, particularly changes to the delivery of ward-based services.
* To be responsible for delivering continuous improvement and standards in a cost-effective manner.
* Responsible for strategic business planning, budget control and delivery of efficiency targets.
* To ensure compliance with appropriate national standards and in particular the “2021 National Cleaning Standards”.
* To sit on appropriate Trust wide committees and represent Domestic Services and Facilities Services, in particular as a member of the Infection Control Operational Group (ICOG).
* Responsible for the investigation and production of reports in respect of conduct cases and grievances raised both in Domestic Services and within the wider Facilities Services environment.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to master’s degree level eg MBA or Facilities Management specific programme, or equivalent relevant experience.
* Evidence of leadership training and further continuous professional development.
* Evidence of training in respect of Food Hygiene and associated relevant factors i.e IDISS / Listeria Management.
Experience
* Significant experience of managing healthcare facilities services and in particular Domestic Services & Food Service at ward level, of which a substantial proportion should be at a senior management operational level in a complex environment.
* Experience of working with and applying the National Standards particularly the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness and the National Standards for Food and Drink.
* Experience of delivering complex projects in Facilities management.
* Proven leadership and track record of directing a broad range of activities.
* Experience of complex people management issues.
* Understanding and experience of governance within Facilities Management.
* Experience of consultation and negotiation with staff side organisations and clinical leaders.
* Management of significant revenue budgets.
* Experience of project management.

* Ability to produce and analyze complex reports.
