Science Graduate Cover Supervisor – Full-Time Role

Contract: Full-time, starting after Easter until the end of the academic year
Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Graduate to join a Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Levenshulme as a Cover Supervisor. This role is ideal for recent graduates looking to gain valuable experience in education, particularly those considering a career in teaching.
The Role:
As a Science Graduate Cover Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to manage and supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher. You will deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students remain engaged and on task throughout the lesson.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supervising whole-class lessons across various year groups, with a particular focus on science subjects.
* Delivering pre-set lesson materials, ensuring students follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
* Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with the school’s policies and ensuring a positive learning environment.
* Providing support to students during lessons, helping them understand scientific concepts and tasks.
* Covering lessons in other subjects where required.
* Reporting student progress, engagement, and behaviour to teaching staff.
* Assisting with science-focused interventions or revision sessions as directed by the science department.
* Supporting practical science lessons where appropriate by helping to manage resources and maintain safety standards.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a Science Graduate who:
* Holds a degree in a science-related subject (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field).
* Is enthusiastic about working with young people and supporting their education.
* Has strong communication and leadership skills, with the confidence to manage a classroom setting.
* Can adapt to different subjects and year groups when required.
* Has prior experience working with young people in an educational or mentoring capacity (desirable but not essential).
* Is organised, proactive, and capable of working independently.
* Understands safeguarding practices (training will be provided if necessary).
