Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Midlands (Hybrid – Office & Site-based)
Salary: Circa £28k DOE
Job Description:
An exciting opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to kickstart their career as a Project Engineer. This role offers hands-on experience in managing projects from initial scope to installation while developing key technical and project management skills. The role is hybrid, requiring time in both the office and at project sites across the Midlands, with occasional overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring smooth communication.
Capture customer requirements and schedule site visits to assess technical needs.
Assist in project scoping, identifying external contract services, and preparing cost estimates.
Support the design, manufacturing, and delivery process to ensure projects meet specifications and deadlines.
Prepare risk assessments and method statements for site activities, briefing customers and project teams.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure resources are available for project execution.
Oversee on-site activities, supporting the management of operatives and subcontractors.
Escalate any issues or risks to the Project Manager to ensure timely resolution.
Assist in tracking and managing project costs in collaboration with the Finance team.
Obtain customer sign-off upon project completion.
General Responsibilities:
Undertake additional duties as requested by management.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant industry standards.
Work within company policies, guidelines, and procedures at all times.
Attend internal and external meetings as required.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors.
Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Proactively support initiatives to improve health and safety performance.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
Valid UK driving licence.
Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing project demands.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Ability to work well in a team and independently.
Desirable Skills:
CAD experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Basic knowledge of welding practices.
CSCS card.
First Aid certification.
