Role Overview
The role of the Property, Grounds & Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and safe upkeep of our facilities, including guest rooms, common areas, mechanical systems, and estate whilst overseeing the Health and Safety provision throughout.
Role Purpose
The primary goal will be to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for our guests and employees whilst maintaining all aspects of the fabric of the building and award-winning garden whilst upholding safety and quality standards.
Main Duties
* Develop and implement a thorough preventive maintenance program to ensure the ongoing functionality of all mechanical systems, equipment, facilities, and estate.
* Be responsible for health and safety, including acting as Departmental health and safety manager, delivering training for the entire department on health and safety information, ensuring compliance with health and safety, fire safety, waste management regulations, COSHH, and other relevant legislation and best practices. Run safety induction seminars for new staff and conduct risk assessments.
* Keep people informed of facilities matters (e.g., urgent health and safety issues). Act as departmental safety representative in relation to standard Department Health & Safety matters, present information to different University groups, and induct all new staff in Health & Safety and general operational matters.
* Responsible for the project management of major and minor building projects. Undertake site liaison with contractors and Estate Management, put in place the logistics of running these projects, instigate and produce briefs for smaller projects, deal with procurement, and manage implementation of the project(s).
* Undertake general facilities management. Inspect buildings and facilities, arrange maintenance, manage estate and maintenance service contracts, work with the University security office to ensure appropriate security arrangements for all occupied departmental buildings/areas, and manage waste from departmental buildings.
* Schedule and oversee regular maintenance tasks, including inspections, repairs, and replacements of the hall and estate.
* Manage, develop, and review service level agreements for the Facilities team. Ensure feedback and recommendations are acted on wherever practical, play a key role in discussions of building infrastructure, services, and equipment requirements for new buildings, negotiate replacements of existing systems (e.g., fire alarms).
* To manage a team of grounds and maintenance staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
* Develop clear accountability for maintenance and estate material spending combined with a strategy to manage expenditure.
* Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility.
* Ensure that the hall function operates by health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of staff and visitors.
* Prepare the annual Estate and Maintenance budget, financial forecasts, and all capital expenditure proposals.
* Work collaboratively, negotiate, and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance and grounds strategy and expenditure.
* Work in conjunction with the university to implement health and safety policies and procedures.
* Establish and maintain effective communication channels for reporting health and safety concerns on property and with the central university.
* Investigate accidents or incidents and implement corrective actions.
* Facilitate training on health and safety practices to employees.
* Collaborate with departmental management to create a safe work environment.
* Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in technology to recommend improvements or upgrades.

Pay: £41,424.00-£55,295.00 per year
