About the role
We have a new opportunity for a Braille Teacher to join our friendly and dynamic Vision Impairment Advisory Team. You will play an essential part of the VI Advisory Team at InFocus Charity, providing a key element of learning to our students’ education. For this position you will need to be able to read and write in Braille to grade 2 level.
You will be responsible in collaborating with allocated support staff, tutors and Pathways Leads for our visually Impaired students and managing your caseload of: delivering Braille teaching to our students where Braille is part of their learning programme and to focus on providing any resources necessary for our students and support staff to best aid them in the classrooms.
Not all of our students are able to use Braille, but some learn Braille as a vital element of their communication and literacy skills. Some students with more complex needs will be taught pre–Braille skills to support them in using a range of tactile resources .
A key aspect of working in this field is identifying individuals learning needs and adapting to that particular student as well as being responsible for creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment to best develop their Braille and pre-Braille Skills.
