We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Redditch, Birmingham or Derby offices - with hybrid working allowing for a combination of in-office and home working. The role would suit a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer who wants to take their next step in their career within an industry leading consultancy by working on exciting projects in the water sector. Across Stantec we are building on what has been a highly successful period of growth. Our strategy within the Water division for 2024 and beyond has created a number of new exciting opportunities in the business. We partner with the top water clients across the UK, work on some of the largest, most iconic water projects in the industry and we promise to design with community in mind by reducing environmental impacts and improving social impacts. We enable the delivery of sustainable development and infrastructure projects that adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change. We are excited by our growth prospects, and this is a good opportunity to join an experienced and ambitious team who will provide you with plenty of support and opportunities for career progression. The successful candidate will be involved in the whole project life cycle from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support including site surveys and investigations. In line with our Communities of Practice approach, there are opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects including in water, wastewater, energy, infrastructure and environmental sectors. As an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will hold responsibility for working and liaising with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the projects and community. Stantec provide a number of opportunities to learn and develop from colleagues across the whole UK and Ireland business. As a Principal Mechanical Engineer you will help develop the team by acting as a mentor or guide to less experienced members within the team. We can offer you many benefits including a competitive benefits package, a strong culture of learning and development, and a great environment to work in. As we look to further diversify and grow our wider Stantec UK and Ireland business you will potentially be presented with future opportunities across our diversified business lines to further your career. About You You will be an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject. You will ideally be Chartered or Incorporated with the IMechE with experience in mechanical design. You will be experienced in producing technical outputs such as design specifications, sizing and designing pumping systems and aeration systems, schedules, reports and familiar with collaborative planning reviews and designs of solutions. You will be able to provide engineering input design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams. Experience in the Water sector is an advantage but not essential and we would also be interested in speaking with candidates who have experience within the energy, infrastructure & environmental sectors in a mechanical engineering capacity. Most importantly, you will embody and support our values of client focus, designing with community in mind, collaboration and service excellence.
