Optikos is seeking an enthusiastic Buyer. This position will have professional responsibility in the procurement of materials and equipment for Optikos. The Buyer will be a self-starting, responsible and motivated person possessing the desire to learn and grow. The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, interacting effectively with the team, co-workers, vendors, and business contacts in an efficient, courteous, engaging and professional manner, with a minimum of three years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with other Supply Chain team members to support purchasing of components, custom parts, mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies, and optical related parts both domestically and internationally.
2. Support quoting, suppliers research and alternative materials research activities with designated Suppliers.
3. Maintain system accuracy, including lead-time, pricing, current supplier information, and current purchase order data.
4. Assist with problem resolution involving discrepancies with purchase order, delivered quantity, quality and/or price.
5. Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
6. Collaborate with Supply Chain Manager on supplier’s qualification support activities.
7. Identify cost savings opportunities and assist in achieving yearly cost reduction targets.
8. Investigate and respond to ISO Document Control’s queries and documentation updates.
9. Work with other support functions such as R&D, Quality, Accounting, Engineering, and Production.
Skills and Requirements:
1. Associates or Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of experience in Purchasing.
2. Familiarity with ERP Systems.
3. Competence with Microsoft Office Products and computer-related skills.
4. Able to work cross-culturally with colleagues and suppliers throughout the world.
5. Strong administrative and data management skills.
6. Ability to work independently.
7. Solid written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills are required to ensure positive working relationships.
8. Technical knowledge of optical, mechanical, and electronic materials is a plus.
