The Waunarlwydd/ Swansea operation now have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join the team.
Job Summary:
This role has accountability for establishing and delivering the Engineering Strategy for the plant including staffing, equipment, budgets, facilities, capabilities, and skill sets to ensure the plant achieves its daily targets in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People (SQCDP). Will also lead CAPEX projects up to £1m within department in partnership with PMO.
Job Role:
1. Responsible for achieving the agreed levels of overall equipment availability and equipment related performance to contribute to an OEE measure.
2. Responsible for delivering cultural change within the Engineering function at all levels to ensure that it aligns to the Plant Goals and fully supports the Plant on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
3. Responsible for continuously evaluating and evolving a structure within the Engineering department that meets or exceeds the needs of the Plant.
4. Must develop KPI’s and deliver measurable improvements in the effectiveness of the Engineering team.
5. Responsible for developing an effective Planned Predictive Maintenance (PPM) and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) program.
6. In line with an appropriate criticality-based analysis is responsible for an effective spares management program to reduce risk and cost to the business.
7. Will lead projects up to £1m within the Engineering team, and support PMO with larger strategic project scope/delivery on time and cost.
8. Responsible for achieving the cost goals required of the department through actions including, control of expenditure across Human Resource, Capital expenditure, consumables, and external labour.
9. Effectively manage performance of team members against agreed objectives and Key Performance indicators; complete personal objectives in a timely manner and create an expectation of the same in others.
10. Ensure effective and accurate communication between engineering and all business partners.
11. Retain a conscious awareness of the business’s wider goals and operate to support delivery of them.
12. Will establish an effective internal communication engineering strategy.
13. Establish external relationships to facilitate benchmarking within PCC and wider industry to ensure best practice.
14. Maintain an approach of ‘never ending improvement’ constantly challenging the status quo.
15. Will be responsible for succession planning of the Engineering team ensuring skills and qualifications are achieved in line with ongoing and new system requirements.
Education/ Qualification/ Experience:
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent in an engineering related subject.
2. 6 Sigma qualified to Black belt level or equivalent.
3. Recognised HSE related qualification e.g. NEBOSH.
4. IT literate, able to generate own reports and correspondence.
Experience:
1. Demonstrated experience of Metal production/Oil & Gas/Chemical Engineering/paper or heavy/capital-intensive industry.
2. Demonstrated experience in leading and managing people.
3. Experience of multi-million budgetary responsibility.
