Michelham Wardis an acute 21 bedded Gastroenterology ward. Patients treated on the ward have a variety of Gastro needs. Such as Crohn's disease, alcoholic hepatitis, Eating Disorders, Mal absorption Disorders, Gastrointestinal bleeding, Gastric cancers and acute Liver diseases. It is also the cohort ward for the Trust for C difficile patients and we have a dedicated area to looking after Bariatric patients.
We are looking for experienced Clinical Support Workers,hospital experience is desirable but not essential. A minimum ofGCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths, Care Certificate and orNVQ2 two in health and social care or the equivalent role. Your role will be toprovide delegated clinical procedures such as insertion/removal of cannula, venepuncture, wound assessment and simple dressings, removal of urinary catheter, training will be provided
Successful applicants will be required to complete an Induction course, which will include all the Trust statutory/Mandatory trainingto join our team inviting them to share their knowledge and experience with the ward; you will need to be well motivated and committed to high standards of patient care and personal professional development.
· Undertaking personal care duties, such as toileting, bathing and dressing / undressing.
· Assist with eating and drinking in line with care plan from Registered Professional including support with feeding and recording of diet and fluids.
· Assist patients to achieve rest and sleep by attending to their comfort needs when required.
· Supporting patients to maintain function and normal activities of daily living where safe to do so to prevent deconditioning whilst in hospital.
· Promote dignity, respect and privacy in the delivery of care duties
· To undertake patients’ vital signs, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, height, weight, neurological assessment, ECG, respirations, urinalysis, blood glucose, pregnancy testing and escalate concerns in line with policy
· Recognition of deteriorating patient and escalation process
