Job Description

Historic England has a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Portfolio Development and Benefits Officer.
This is a Full Time, Permanent post.
The location of this role is National where we offer hybrid working. You will be based in one of our following offices and from home - Newcastle, York, Manchester, Birmingham, Swindon, Bristol, Portsmouth (Fort Cumberland), and Cambridge.

What You Will Be Doing: As a key member of the Portfolio Development & Benefits Team, you will play a vital role in shaping and managing Historic England’s portfolio of programmes and projects. From supporting the triage of new opportunities to supporting benefits realisation, your work will directly contribute to the success of our Corporate Plan and compliance with the Government Functional Standard GovS002 Project Delivery. You will collaborate across departments to ensure the consistent application of best practices in portfolio management, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and effective delivery.
You will support in the development of a suite of standards and processes and embed best practice for benefits management and realisation within the portfolio. You will support with reporting on portfolio-level benefits realisation, and mid- and post-implementation reviews to compare forecast to realised benefits against the portfolios, programmes, and major projects.
The role sits within the Business Improvement Group, a dynamic part of Historic England committed to enabling innovative delivery, developing HE as an organisation, and focusing on its performance.
Who We Are Looking For:
* Experience of supporting benefits management and/or benefits realisation within portfolios, programmes, or projects.
* Experience of working on business cases, ideally following the Treasury Green Book model and with the Better Business Cases Foundation certification.
* Demonstrable experience of supporting portfolios, programmes, or projects.
* Ability to analyse data/information and present it and its conclusions in a clear and concise manner.
* Constructive and creative problem-solving skills.
* Experience of PowerBI, MS Planner, MS Project.
