The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Co-Owners, the Controller opportunity offers an experienced financial professional the chance to modernize and enhance the company’s accounting structure while driving efficiency in financial operations. This individual will play a key role in optimizing the month-end close process and improving accounting operations and management reporting. As the company continues to grow through acquisitions or organic growth, this leader will be instrumental in integrating financial processes across multiple entities. Additionally, they will supervise a small team of accounting staff and serve as a trusted advisor to ownership, contributing to the company's continued expansion and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the accounting department and lead accounting staff, providing guidance on financial processes, reporting, and best practices to ensure efficient operations and compliance.
2. Spearhead the implementation and continuous improvement of financial processes, including those specific to project-based revenue, ensuring alignment with GAAP and company needs.
3. Manage the month-end close process, including reconciliations and journal entries, and prepare consolidated financial statements across multiple entities with accuracy and regulatory compliance.
4. Analyze financial statements to identify trends and opportunities for cost control and resource optimization; lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process to support strategic planning.
5. Implement and maintain inventory control procedures and support business growth through acquisitions by integrating financial operations across all entities.
Job Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with at least five years of hands-on finance and accounting management experience.
2. Proven track record of identifying, recommending, and implementing process improvements to streamline financial operations, enhance reporting accuracy, and improve operational efficiency.
3. A hands-on leader with a proactive approach to managing day-to-day accounting functions, including month-end close, reconciliations, and overseeing accounting staff, while also driving long-term strategic goals.
4. Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems, QuickBooks Online preferred.
