Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow in Interventional Cardiology at the Lincolnshire Heart Centre, based at Lincoln County Hospital.
The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a clinical fellow in interventional cardiology (coronary angioplasty) to be based at Lincoln County Hospital. This post is for 12 months and will enable the successful applicant to consolidate their interventional cardiology training with a year of specialist training in all aspects of coronary intervention in a busy non-surgical tertiary referral centre. The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is a large acute NHS Trust which is responsible for a comprehensive range of healthcare services to a local population of 750,000 patients. The Interventional Cardiology service has performed over 900-1200 PCI procedures per year since 2014 and offers the full range of intracoronary imaging (used in more than 60% of cases), physiological assessment, and adjunctive treatments as required including intravascular lithotripsy, rotational and laser atherectomy. The trust provides a 24/7 primary PCI service which treated over 300 patients in 2021. The unit has an active research programme in place with many clinical studies currently running.
Main duties of the job
This post would be most suitable for applicants with CCT in Cardiology who already have basic training in coronary intervention, but wish to increase their experience in complex PCI and procedural numbers. Depending on their level of training, the post-holder would be expected to perform approximately 400 solo or first-operator procedures in this year. There is no General Cardiology on-call commitment but there is an option of participating in a low-intensity non-interventional pan-Trust consultant rota upon discussions. In addition, the interested candidate will be given an opportunity to train for level 2 accreditation in cardiac CT.
