A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST I
As a Human Resources Generalist I, you spend your day working directly with internal and external customers. Your work typically involves assisting with the maintenance/evaluation of recruitment and staffing policies, procedures, processes, programs, projects, strategies, job descriptions and actions. Assists in researching and gathering information on recruiting tactics and best practices. Participates in recruiting, wellness and/or safety initiatives. Assists with new hire orientation, exit interviews, and benefits interviews. Conducts incident investigations related to on-the-job injuries and/or accidents with/to general public. Processes related claims, guides employees and general public through the process, and communicates with medical providers and/or department heads on progress. Balances worker's compensation, automobile, general liability and real & personal property premiums and changes to include restitutions and reimbursements. Maintains division records; reconcile monthly premiums. Processes insurance changes, calculates deductions, reimbursements, and payment submittal. Cross-trains and assists in different capacities within the Department. Provides customer service and completes moderate administrative functions.

Qualifications For a Human Resources Generalist I
1. Associates Degree from an accredited college/university
2. Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above education requirement.
3. 1 year of experience in Human Resources Administration
4. Must have a current and valid class 'C' driver's license (CDL) from the Texas Department of Public Safety
5. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the city's expense
6. Have a satisfactory driving record and be insurable by the city's current insurance carrier
7. Bilingual English/Spanish
