An opportunity has arisen within Democratic Services for a Governance Officer to join the team.
You will be responsible for supporting (and where appropriate deputising for) the Governance and Corporate Planning Manager to ensure that the arrangements for the co-ordination of all of the Authority’s decision making and performance and overview functions comply with the Authority’s procedural and legislative obligations. You will also assist with the development and maintenance of an electronic committee system to facilitate the effective co-ordination of Member and senior management meetings and produce timely and accurate records.
You will support the delivery of the Service’s Corporate Planning process through the maintenance of planning templates, toolkits and guidance documents, organising meetings at key points throughout the year to support the Corporate Planning timetable and providing guidance and support to departments in respect of corporate and departmental planning.
You will also provide support to the Information Manager, dealing with data protection, freedom of information and other information-related work.
This is a fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and a strong focus on teamwork, support, and prioritisation in order to meet tight deadlines. The work of the post holder will be split across two broad disciplines (decision-making/corporate planning and information management). Three days a week will be allocated to supporting the Information Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience in governance, corporate planning, or information management.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills.
