The role
The Evaluation and Impact Officer is responsible for contributing to and designing, implementing, and maintaining evaluation processes to assess the effectiveness and impact of programmes and initiatives for the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS).
This role involves collecting and analysing data, reporting findings, and providing recommendations for improvement to help ensure RZSS meets its strategic objectives and accountability commitments.
Some of the things you'll do
* Contribute to and, with direction from Head of Discovery and Learning, create an evaluation plan(s) aligned to the strategy which sets parameters for data collection and measurements to evaluate impact.
* Work with a small team across RZSS to implement evaluation plans (including monitoring) to measure the impact of engagement activities, and support the teams in developing methods of collection and collation.
* Provide support to all teams to enable the organisation to understand, evaluate and evidence their work.
* Collect, analyse, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to measure performance and impact.
* Provide impact evaluation reports against strategic aims and objectives.
* Maintain the required systems to capture and collate the information required to evidence progress against delivering outputs, identifying areas of risk where shortfalls are occurring.
* Track related programme delivery across teams against the strategic aims and objectives.
* Prepare clear, concise evaluation reports, including methods, findings, and recommendations.
* Present findings to stakeholders, tailoring messages for various audiences.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify evaluation needs and priorities.
* Represent the organisation in discussions with funders, partners, and other external entities related to evaluation practices.
* Work with relevant project teams to ensure project aims and outcomes are measurable and evaluated with a sustainable legacy including a focus on nature connectivity.
* Support the development of evaluation components in grant proposals.
* Ensure compliance with donor requirements related to program evaluation and reporting.
What we're looking for:
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent level qualification in social sciences or relevant experience in a similar role.
* Knowledge of GDPR regulations in relation to evaluation.
* Understanding of how organisations can collect, analyse and use impact and outcomes data and the range of methods and tools that can be used.
* Assertive communicator, confident in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders and presenting, with the ability to tailor often complex data to a wide range of audiences.
* Excellent standard of written and spoken English including report-writing skills, including the ability to produce visually appealing documents.
* Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis preferably in a Windows-based environment.
* Experience in conducting quantitative (using Excel) and qualitative analysis, including analysis of pre and post data.

* Starting salary between £27,487 - £28,174 (salary will be pro rata for 10.5 hours per week) (offer based on experience) with future salary progression up to £30,637 per annum (salary will be pro rata for 10.5 hours per week).
