Project: A large defence capital works programme which, over 15 years, will contribute to the upgrade of the UK’s strategic defence capability.
Mace (in partnership with the client and other industry organisations) will establish and subsequently manage the programme management organisation overseeing the delivery of numerous complex and varied capital works projects.
Role outline:
Reporting to the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) Head of Construction Logistics, the Deputy is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the logistics team in line with key deliverables and the overall IPD Logistics programme. This role does not include the management of personnel on the team, rather the functional control of team efforts. The role involves planning, organising, and controlling the efficient and cost-effective planning of logistics scope.
The Deputy is responsible for the overall programme, acting as the point of coordination for all other members and enacts the direction given by the head of logistics, supporting all other team members. This role includes developing and implementing a logistics programme, schedule, and plan to track progress. Working closely with the team planner the incumbent will monitor and report on the outputs of the team in line with deliverables. Additionally, the Deputy is the principle point of contact for maintaining accurate reports and returns on behalf of the team. Helping to providing clear communications across a range of stakeholders and maintaining relationships.
Due to the strict security requirements, candidates must be a UK National and will need to progress through security clearance.
Role and Responsibilities:
·Support the Head of Construction Logistics in achieving delivery of agreed scope against defined timelines and management processes.
·Deputise for the Head of Construction Logistics as required.
·Coordinate the delivery of milestones/objectives set by the Head of Construction Logistics for IPD
·Seek to identify opportunities to meet wider client objectives within the Strategy and Operational Plan.
·Oversee and enhance the daily routine of the logistics team.
·Oversee and ensure deliverables are achieved as set out in the logistics programme.
·Support the development the logistics strategy and plan for the delivery of IPD logistics.
·Act as single point of contact for all reports and returns for the logistics team.
·Manage relationships with stakeholders.
·Coordinate with other functions.
·Implement initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
·Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance performance and productivity.
·Producing project reports or data as required to meet the needs and deadlines of the Construction Logistics Team, the construction programmes and other stakeholders as required.
Technical competencies:
·Experience of construction logistics.
·Experience of construction logistics at the strategic to tactical levels, within a live operational environment.
