We’re on the lookout for a Financial Services Manager – Deputy Section 151 Officer to help shape the council’s financial future. What You'll Do:
As the Deputy Section 151 Officer, you’ll work alongside the Section 151 Officer, leading key financial initiatives and ensuring statutory compliance. You’ll:
* Shape Strategy: Develop and lead the council’s Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS).
* Ensure Compliance: Oversee audits, governance, and regulatory adherence.
* Support Decision-Making: Provide expert advice to elected members and senior officers.
* Drive Transformation: Lead financial strategy for service improvement and risk management.
* Lead the Team: Manage and develop a high-performing finance team.
What We’re Looking For:
* Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW) with substantial local authority finance experience.
* Proven success in a senior public sector finance role, ideally as a Deputy Section 151 Officer.
* In-depth understanding of local government finance frameworks, regulations, and funding mechanisms.
* Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
* A strategic thinker with a proactive approach to financial planning and risk management.
