Role Overview We have an exciting opportunity in our purpose-built eye health clinic and surgical centre in Teesside. We are looking for an experienced ophthalmic technician to join the team and help us continue to deliver outstanding clinical care for our patients. Ophthalmic technicians play a key role in our daily eye clinics. They support the clinical consultant, helping to ensure the smooth running of the clinics and that patient appointments run to time and are conducted in the right manner. Over time, and with development, ophthalmic technicians can run their own clinics. Ophthalmic technicians are trained to use all diagnostic equipment and will undertake clinic appointments and also act as a point of escalation if junior technicians or healthcare assistants have queries or concerns. The thought of eye surgery can be a daunting prospect for patients to deal with; therefore, our ophthalmic technicians need to be empathetic and friendly and able to put patients at ease. They also need to be able to explain the purpose of the different tests to ensure the patient understands their treatment.
