This role requires a technically strong group accountant with an audit and IFRS background. The position will be instrumental in leading IFRS technical support throughout the business and preparing the Group consolidated Annual Report and Financial Statements. It requires someone who is able to easily explain complex technical accounting to senior managers in the organisation.
IVCE plans to continue its acquisition strategy as well as continuing to grow organically creating a demand in the business for technical accounting solutions for new scenarios and situations. The role will require someone with strong IFRS 3, IFRS 9 (specifically ECL and Hedge Accounting) and IFRS 16 experience as well as someone with a desire to build their technical knowledge gained in practice to a high growth, acquisitive group.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Technical Support
1. Act as the main lead on IFRS technical research, writing technical accounting papers for management, auditors and the Audit Committee.
2. Be responsible for drafting new group accounting policies and reviewing and amending existing ones.
3. Manage a wide range of technical accounting and reporting queries from countries around the Group.
4. Be responsible for reviewing the accounting for financial instruments (including derivatives) across the Group.
5. Update management on new IFRS requirements and other reporting developments.
6. Assist with accounting training requirements around the Group.
Monthly Management Accounts
1. Be responsible for preparing certain reports such as balance sheet commentary and certain P&L analysis.
2. Assist countries in rolling out new accounting requirements into monthly reporting.
3. Assist in the creation of group consolidation journals.
Annual Report and Financial Statements
1. Be responsible for the creation of the group financial statements at year end including liaison with the auditors.
2. Be responsible for the creation of the half year financial statements.
3. Be responsible for the annual goodwill impairment exercise and calculation of the Group’s WACC.
4. Assist with subsidiary reporting requirements.
ERP Implementation Support
1. Assist with any reporting requirements arising during the Oracle ERP and consolidation system implementation.
Experience/Qualifications:
1. Strong technical accounting and audit background gained in a large accounting practice or in another large, international commercial organisation.
2. Strong attention to detail.
3. Excellent communication and project management skills.
4. Experience in writing technically detailed accounting papers, e.g., for auditors and Audit Committees.
5. Experience in dealing with group financial accounting, reporting and consolidations of multi-national groups.
6. Comfortable with change in a rapidly expanding business.
7. Self-starter, able to manage work independently.
8. Relevant accounting qualification - ACCA, ACA, CIMA.
