Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery located in North Lincolnshire is a key asset for the Prax Group and is a world-class supplier of quality fuels. Constructed in 1968, it has the capacity to process up to 5.4 million tonnes of crude oil per year (up to 113,000 barrels a day) and currently employs around 450 staff in addition to a similar complement of contract personnel. The refinery extends over 500 acres and incorporates some of the most advanced refining and conversion processes in Europe, supplying products by road, rail, sea and pipeline. The Refinery is currently seeking a Day Chemist to join our Laboratory team within the Technical Department. This team is essential in providing critical services to both the refinery and its customers. Responsible for Analysis of process feedstocks, intermediates, finished products and environmental samples Maintains, calibrates, and prepares secondary working standards for equipment. Writes methods and procedures, conforming to Industry Standards, within area of expertise. Complies with company rules and policies. Key Activities:- Maintaining COSHH requirements for laboratory chemicals. Maintaining reference data and entering data onto the Refinery LIMS. Ensuring process samples are taken and sampling services are provided per procedures and process test schedule. Developing, writing, approving, and controlling laboratory test methods. Communicating with all departments to manage samples, test results and quality. Implementing and maintaining laboratory calibration system. Training of laboratory staff in relevant areas. Representing the company on Energy Institute test method panels. Providing non-laboratory-based support as requested during refinery turnarounds. SAP reservations, requisitions, and notifications. Commissioning new lab equipment. Conducting analysis of tank, process and effluent samples. Contribute to the maintenance of a positive HSEQI culture and achievement of Refinery HSEQI objectives, by following the Refinery Golden Safety Rules and Operator Principles, the reporting of HSEQI accidents and Near Miss events and when required contributing to their investigation, the participation in HSEQI, risk assessment, audits, performance monitoring and review meetings, the participation in HSEQI campaigns, initiatives and communications; and the timely completion HSEQI actions, data reviews and Investigation reports. Complete corrective actions on time to required quality in-line with MyCompliance Incident Report. Qualifications/Attributes/Experience required: Educational Background : In-depth laboratory experience with at least an A Level or equivalent in science; higher qualifications will be advantageous. Skills: Strong communication and organisational abilities are essential for this role. Systems Knowledge : Familiarity with internationally recognised Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems is an advantage. IT Proficiency: Must be IT literate, with particular expertise in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
