We are currently seeking a Contracts Manager to support our businesses within the UK with procurement and supply chain activities. This newly created position will be based at our offices in Loughborough. Flexible working of up to two days from home will be considered. Equally, the successful candidate may be required to travel to other BRUSH locations including Newport, Wales, central London, and Scotland from time to time.
The Contracts Manager - Procurement will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our supplier contracts and procurement activities are conducted efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices. This includes:
* Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and concluding a variety of supply-side contracts, including for raw materials used in manufacturing, assemblies, fabricated parts, logistics and transportation contracts, consultancy contracts, and IT contracts.
* Compliance: Ensuring that all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and Brush policies and procedures.
* Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with procurement and contract management.
* General support for Procurement: Contributing to the entire procurement process, from identifying and adopting best practices in selecting suppliers and managing supplier relationships, managing contract costs to ensure value for money and dealing with suppliers that are not meeting our expectations.
This position sits within the Group Legal & Compliance function providing general and project support to the Group Legal Director, as well assisting our Group Compliance Manager with embedding compliance initiatives within the business.
Role Responsibility
* Trusted advisor to Procurement and Supply Chain professionals and budget holders throughout the Group.
* Contract Drafting and Negotiation:
Draft, review, negotiate, renew, and potentially terminate a wide range of purchasing contracts, ensuring that they align with Brush strategic objectives and protect its interests.
Provide expert procurement advice on contract terms and conditions.
* Procurement Process Support:
Support the development and implementation of effective procurement strategies and processes, including:
* Supplier evaluations, tendering and bidding processes, contract award evaluations.
* Ensuring that all completed and part-completed contracts are archived and available for examination as necessary.
* Promoting awareness of the importance of contract compliance.
* Collecting feedback from stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.
* Contract Administration:
Advising on contract performance and compliance.
Advise on contract variations and disputes.
Highlight and mitigate any contractual exposure between commitments to customers and obligations of suppliers such as achieving sustainability goals.
Identify and assess potential legal and compliance risks associated with procurement and contract management.
Support the development and implementation of relevant risk mitigation strategies.
* Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement regulations, including EU procurement directives and UK public sector procurement regulations.
Adhere to the company's policies and procedures.
* Cost Management:
Support the budget holders with underperforming suppliers.
The Ideal Candidate
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Law, Business, or a related field (or equivalent qualification) essential.
Proven experience and success in contract and procurement management, preferably as part of a team in the manufacturing or engineering sectors.
Willing to be innovative in adopting new methods of managing workflow.
Essential KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Thorough understanding of contract law principles and tendering best practices.
Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with budget holders and buyers, to fulfill both a supply chain strategy as well as short-term tactical needs.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., contract management systems, procurement platforms).
There are no management or leadership responsibilities for this role.
