Job Purpose:
Working as part of a small team of embedded engineers, you will be key to supporting our current and next generation of embedded Monitoring solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer keen to enhance and develop a wide range of skills, working as part of a team on complex electronics/software projects, designed for high reliability operation in a hostile environment.
The role will be based in Swindon, reporting to the Swindon Office Manager. Project work will be defined, planned, and managed by the Swindon Office Manager working in conjunction with the Head of Engineering.
You will work with engineers and/or other stakeholders to review technical specifications, then realise the product and support its release to the end user. This may include the opportunity for occasional site visits both in the UK and overseas to support type approvals/qualification, commissioning, and training.

Job Context:
1. Use good engineering practice to design new and modify existing products.
2. Analyse scope and requirements, identify and solve problems.
3. Where required, take responsibility for the entire product life cycle, including specification, architecture, design, validation, production release, and customer support for released products.
4. Provide innovative solutions to technical problems.
5. Work within an agile multi-disciplined team.
6. Be a key participant in design reviews.
7. Support change management, testing, fault finding, prototype, and production build.
8. Provide end-user support for both new and existing products.
9. Technical liaison within and outside Lucy Electric with customers, suppliers, and collaboration partners.
10. Responsible for supporting team members.
Job Dimensions:
The role will be based in the UK, with some level of working from home negotiable, recognizing the need to be in the office for practical work. Overseas travel may also be necessary as required by management.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Deliver agreed work packages on time and to the agreed quality/standards.
2. Coordinate and deliver in cooperation with other project teams.
3. Assist with project planning and reporting.
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge:
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years hands-on engineering experience or an HND/degree in a relevant subject (Electronics/Science/Engineering or equivalent).
Skills (Experience of some or all of the following):
1. Analyse the scope and requirements.
2. Interpret and/or contribute to requirements and specifications.
3. The ability to support other engineers with design and debug of systems.
4. Able to produce/maintain technical documentation.
5. Embedded electronics fault finding and repair.
6. Experience of a general electronics design environment.
7. Experience in a range of technologies including digital, analogue, and power electronics.
8. Design and build of hardware electronic systems including packaging.
9. Familiarity with CAD packages for schematic capture and PCB artwork design.
10. Knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
11. Cadence/Proteus CAD software.
12. Some knowledge of MV distribution systems and switchgear.
13. Understanding of mechanical engineering practices.
14. Embedded software.
15. Environmental testing and EMC.
16. Methodical approach to problem-solving.
17. Capable of driving ideas/projects forward.
18. Able to work effectively to meet agreed timescales having considered and planned the project activities.
