Assistant Buyer Apprenticeship x 2 Positions Available

Working Schedule: Monday – Friday 37.5 - 9.00 am - 5.30 pm
Salary: £25,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Responsibilities
As a Buying Assistant you will be a key part of the company’s purchasing department and you will help with all of the buying activities. You will provide help to the Category Managers & Trading Team to source and purchase all products and services needed for the relevant Category Ranges, at the best price available and within agreed quality specifications.
Administration / System Management
1. SKU management (creation and removals in line with business).
2. Branch order amends where needed.
3. Supplier & support management, in line with Category Managers and Line Manager agreement.
4. Data sanitisation.
5. Supplier buying register loading in line with Bunzl price window, making sure file is free of errors.
6. Invoice query management.
7. Maintain key supplier information including contact details, pricing, product specifications, unit of measure and lead times.
Analysis & Reporting
1. Analysis of current processes and reports to propose continuous improvements in processes.
2. Monthly board report data gathering.
Category/Product Management
1. Negotiating with suppliers and building long term relationships- SSLA’s, Product Reviews, Price increase management.
2. Sourcing, selection, benchmarking and due diligence of products and suppliers.
3. Ensuring all materials are purchased on time, to specification, and at the best price available.
4. Identifying new and alternative sources of supply for products and making recommendations to the Category Manager.
5. Conversion rate of Buying office support to Supplier support.
Stakeholder Relationships
Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with key internal stakeholders including sales, inventory, quality control and customer service to ensure customer fulfilment is maximised.

2. You will always be looking out for new products at the best price so you can help the profitability of the business.
3. You will be well organised with a confident and outgoing personality as you will be expected to deputise for the Category Manager from time to time.
4. You will need to completely familiarise yourself with all aspects of the category’s products and methods of production and able to understand the needs of other departments.
Your Skills
Full training will be given and the successful candidates will be expected to attain Commercial Procurement & Supply Level 4 Qualification.
Essential Qualifications
GCSE, minimum of Grade 4 (Grade C) or above in Maths and English.
