What You'll Be Doing As The Senior Development Engineer: Leading the design and development of custom machinery, with a particular focus on laser integration and applications. Becoming the go-to expert for laser technology within manufacturing processes. Creating and refining designs that comply with specifications, safety regulations, and CE standards. Conducting design reviews, managing risks, and reporting progress to stakeholders. Producing detailed engineering drawings complete with geometric tolerances. Working hands-on to build and test prototypes, ensuring they meet the brief. Coaching and mentoring junior engineers, sharing your expertise and fostering growth within the team. Collaborating with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure seamless product development. Travelling internationally (occasionally) to oversee installations and support customers on-site.What You'll Need As The Senior Development Engineer: An engineering degree or equivalent apprenticeship. Prior experience working in a mechanical design role, ideally with experience in special purpose machinery or bespoke automation. Previous experience of leading product development projects from start to finish. Hands-on experience with laser technology (design, application, or integration). Strong CAD skills preferably in SolidWorks. A practical, hands-on approach to prototyping and testing. The ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and concisely.
