About the Job
The Port Elgin/Southampton home service area has a part-time vacancy available. The successful candidate will be required to work 24.5 hours over a two-week period. The incumbent will have the opportunity to accept shifts in surrounding branches to provide relief staffing for vacation and sick time of scheduled employees. Hours may include evenings and weekends.
Reporting to the Lead/Branch Supervisor, the Library Clerk provides information services and readers’ advisory to patrons, carries out routine duties at the circulation desk to lend and receive library items, conducts other clerical or maintenance tasks as required, and assists with library programming.
Salary & Benefits
Wage Rates: $20.60 - $23.73/hour

Requirements
Qualifications:
- High School (Secondary School) diploma
- Experience with office equipment and the use of computers
- Experience planning, promoting, and running programs
- Strong customer service background
- Ability to lift book bins, maneuver book carts and shelve books
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage time appropriately and meet deadlines
- Proficient with technology
- Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and listening skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Support the Canadian Federation of Library Association’s Statement on Intellectual Freedom
- A recent and clear Police Check including vulnerable sector check
- First Aid Certification required as scheduled
Assets:
- Experience working in a public library
- Experience working with the Dewey Decimal Classification System
- Registration in the OLS EXCEL program
