Job Details This opportunity will run over 18 months with the project going live in January 2025. Key Responsibilities: Operating Telehandler: Operate the telehandler to move, load, and unload materials such as bricks, timber, and other supplies around the site. Use the telescopic arm to lift and position materials at various heights and angles for construction workers. Safely transport loads to required locations across the site. Site Support and Logistics: Assist in managing the delivery and distribution of materials on-site, ensuring timely supply to the right locations. Help with setting up storage areas for materials and equipment on the site. Maintain organisation of the site's logistics, ensuring walkways and work areas are kept clear of obstructions. Equipment Maintenance and Inspections: Perform routine checks and maintenance on the telehandler, ensuring it's in good working condition. Carry out pre-operational safety checks on the telehandler, such as fluid levels, tyre pressure, and brakes. Report any defects, damages, or malfunctions to the site manager or plant manager. Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety protocols on the construction site, including wearing the required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Ensure that telehandler operations are carried out in compliance with site-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements. Be mindful of other workers and equipment on-site to avoid accidents and ensure safe working conditions for all. Load Handling: Ensure the safe loading, securing, and unloading of materials using the telehandler. Assess the weight and stability of loads to avoid tipping and other hazards. Use the correct attachments, such as forks, buckets, or clamps, depending on the type of load being moved. Supporting Other Site Tasks: Assist other workers on-site when required, such as helping with manual handling tasks or minor labouring duties when the telehandler is not in use. Collaborate with other plant operators, riggers, and site workers to ensure smooth operations on-site. Skills and Qualifications: CPCS or NPORS Card (Telehandler): Essential qualification for operating telehandlers on UK construction sites. Safety Critical Medical Experience: Prior experience operating telehandlers on construction sites is required. Knowledge of Telehandler Operations: Strong understanding of telehandler controls, load capacities, and safe lifting practices. Health and Safety Awareness: Comprehensive knowledge of UK health and safety regulations on construction sites, including LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations). Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with site personnel, especially when coordinating material movements. Attention to Detail: Strong focus on safety and precision when operating machinery.
